Education is about more than just a number of academic lessons delivered in the classroom and instead involves a school being concerned about the development of the whole person. A boy or girl’s time at Wycliffe must be an ‘experience’ in itself – something to be enjoyed and valued for its own intrinsic value – not just a means to obtain exam results.
School Motto
Bold and Loyal
Academic Development
The broad curriculum offers 20+ subjects at GCSE (including business, computer science and Japanese) and 28 choices of courses post 16 with three BTEC options, ACT and US SAT university entrance preparation. International pupils can follow the pre-A Level one year course which offers GCSE – equivalent study whilst boosting English skills. Pastoral Care and Boarding
We operate a house system at Wycliffe which provides every pupil a space to call their own; where they can work and socialise. There are eight houses for years 9 to 13, including a mixed Sixth Form House. Each house has its own character, celebrates the diversity of its residents, promotes a sense of community and offers a high level of pastoral care.
Extracurricular & Personal Development
Our school is named after John Wycliffe a 14th century philosopher whose attitudes of independence and ‘pioneering spirit’ is what are school values are based upon. We believe that education is more than just academic lessons and instead involves developing the whole person. We encourage our pupils to flourish and embrace their futures as global citizens.
As part of our extra-curricular programme, we offer over 70 clubs and activities: including beekeeping, rowing, robotics and basketball. The Wycliffe Advanced Sports and Performance Programme (WASP) and the elite Squash Academy cater for talented athletes, whilst co-curricular activities include fencing and modern pentathlon.
Open events are an opportunity for prospective families visiting the School to spend time with pupils, who act as tour guides. Members of the academic and pastoral team are available to answer any questions that you may have about a Wycliffe education.
