Few would deny that a good education extends beyond actual examination results. It’s about the whole child becoming independent, resilient and ambitious. At The Royal School, we develop the ‘whole person’ in sport, drama, music and adventurous activity. Young people at The Royal are better placed to make the best of their opportunities to become well-rounded individuals with confidence and empathy.
At the centre of all that The Royal does is an inclusive community where students study, play and live together harmoniously with a friendly, family atmosphere for both day pupils and boarders alike. There are two boarding houses, one for girls and one for boys. Our boarders are encouraged to develop life skills and must fulfil a ‘boarding passport’ designed to help them do this. A home from home, the boarding houses are run by experienced boarding parents. On the weekends, there is a range of activities planned to keep boarders occupied and happy. Our strong academic tradition is based upon individual attention and encouragement, as well as excellent pastoral care founded on respect, tolerance and understanding of others.
Students achieve their full academic potential, whilst a wide range of mandatory (for Y7-11) extended-day activities develop character and leadership. We prepare pupils for Oxbridge and other top universities while also catering to pupils of all abilities. The School regularly achieves high standards in both A-Level and G.C.S.E. results, particularly in STEM subjects of mathematics and the sciences. The Royal combines traditional values with a modern outlook and a ‘real-world’ attitude.
