Principal, Dr Gareth Lloyd, joined Stoke in 2020 from Times College, Nanjing, where he was the founding Foreign Principal. Times College is one of a handful of schools awarded full International Baccalaureate status.
Prior to that, he was Headmaster of St John’s College Cathedral Choir School, Cardiff, and Ratcliffe College. Dr Lloyd is an inspector with the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate.
Wide ability, academically ambitious
Stoke College is a wide ability school with high academic ambitions. For entry from September 2022, students are assessed in English, Maths and non-verbal reasoning and all will have a short interview with the Principal, Dr Lloyd. The school prides itself on providing a forward thinking and holistic education, a place where individual attention is given to student to support their academic and whole-person development.
Investing in the Future
The education investors who bought the school in 2019 are investing heavily; including the introduction of an affordable, transparent fee structure. The school’s investors are committed to investing in the success of the school, including, in time, new buildings, infrastructure and technology.
Leadership
Stoke College is led by Dr Gareth Lloyd, who was previously Head of Ratcliffe College and St Joseph’s College, Cardiff and is leading the school at an exciting time. Alongside the new investors, he is determined to transform the education on offer, providing innovative and exciting opportunities for all Stoke College pupils and to establish the school as a model of high quality, affordable independent education.
International Outlook
Alongside embedding themselves in the local community, Stoke has an innovative international outlook, which includes having an international sixth form.
