“It’s our role to nurture young people’s optimism. Nobody knows all the answers. But our small classes, range of activities and incredible care for individuals all enable students to think critically, confront change, work hard, be creative, take some risks and to learn to give and take.”
Andy Rattue, Principal of St Clare’s, Oxford
St Clare’s, Oxford is a kind and inclusive community, an outward-facing place where internationalism is part of everyday life. Students from over 45 countries study there, including a significant number of British students. The college is not a gated community; their 27 beautiful north Oxford buildings are grouped around Banbury Road just south of Summertown. This means that students benefit from being part of the local community which is enriched by their youthful joie de vivre.
As well as teaching the International Baccalaureate at both higher and standard level, their IB World School also offers a Pre-IB course. Their academic results speak for themselves, with an average score of 39 in 2021 (out of 45), they are one of the top schools in the UK. In recent years, 20 of their students achieved the maximum 45 points and obtained places at top ranking universities worldwide.
St Clare’s distinctive approach to developing students places an emphasis on hard work, as well as knowledgeable, open-minded and inquiring minds. Students are encouraged to take full advantage of the opportunities that the academic city of Oxford provides.
