Three schools in one, Bishop’s Stortford College is a leading independent co-educational day and boarding school for children aged from 4 - 18. Large enough to provide exceptional opportunities yet small enough for individuals to be known and valued. High academic standards are balanced with sport, music, drama and a wealth of activities to support Building Confidence for Life.

Head's Welcome

We have the time, space and, above all, the commitment, to discover and develop the talent within your child, wherever his or her talents lie. As a day and boarding school for 4-18 year olds, with boarding starting from the age of 7, we can cater for boys and girls within the family and the individual needs of different families.

In their March 2017 Inspection, the College received the ISI highest headline judgements ‘excellent’ in all 4 sections. The boarding community who are fully integrated with day pupils, benefit from some of the best boarding facilities in the region. The infectious enthusiasm, imagination and dedication of College staff, enables pupils to grow into happy, well-rounded, skilful, caring young people equipped and ready for all life has to offer.

Breadth of experience is naturally woven into daily life. Pupils can, and do, pursue high academic standards whilst enjoying and succeeding, in many other interests. Every pupil is encouraged, taught and challenged to fulfil their true potential, through immersion in an environment of discovery and wholehearted participation. Teachers strive to allow time and space for academic work to be balanced by sport, music, drama, and a diverse choice of other activities including the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, service to the community and opportunities for leadership. The College also nurtures an appreciation and love of creativity that often remains with pupils for the rest of their lives.

Ultimately Bishop’s Stortford College aims to enable pupils to contribute constructively to society and play a full role in it, whatever their chosen path.
